Beth van Hoessen Cats

15.95

For more than five decades, the late California artist Beth Van Hoesen (1926–2010) created intimate drawings and prints that bring out the beauty, personality, and essence of her subjects—animals, people, still lifes, and landscapes. Her artistic approach was shaped by her philosophy that an artist needs to see not only with the eyes but also with the heart.

A graduate of Stanford University, Van Hoesen also studied at the Escuela de Pintura y Escultura de la Escuela Esmeralda in Mexico City; Ecole des Beaux Arts de Fontainebleau; Académie Julian and Académie de la Grande Chaumière, Paris; and the California School of Fine Arts (now the San Francisco Art Institute). Van Hoesen’s work is held in numerous museum collections and is the subject of several books, including Beth Van Hoesen: Catalogue Raisonné of Limited-Edition Prints, Books, and Portfolios, from which the four lush, colorful images featured in this notecard assortment have been selected.

Contains five each of the following notecards:
Matthew, 1992
Lily of Noe, 1985
Bugs, 1985
Boots, 1985
