Kyoto Journal
It is a Japanese postal seal of the late nineteenth century that appears on the cover. Traditionally, it was printed in red. The purple paper on which it is printed here was garnishing a crate of tomatoes! Why are tomatoes almost always wrapped in this purple-blue paper?
