One evening while riding home from dance class, eight-year-old Ronan Russell started thinking about the children at his school. Not all the kids, just the ones who experience homelessness. He thought about the people who have more than they need, and the sweet school kids – his very own peers – without shelter and other necessities.

                From the back seat of the vehicle, Ronan called forward to his Aunt Becky as she drove. He told Aunt Becky he’d like to write a story about a magic cat, a scientist, and heartless billionaires who cared only about themselves. He told her that he’d make the heroes of the story children, so desperately poor, they must steal to survive.
