Pennsylvania Outdoors
Pennsylvania is a state of mind, yes, but it is also a lovely and endlessly fascinating place to roam and ramble in. We like finding guidebooks that tell us practical things and quirky things and unusual things. We strive to avoid propaganda and boosterism. Let a book be your inspiration!

Farming on the Ridges and in the Valleys of Perry County
The Historic Barn & Farm Foundation of Pennsylvania put together a tour in 2019, and they had the wisdom and good fortune to have local historian and photographer Jerry Clouse as Tour Chair. This 66-page book is a guide to that tour. It has many color photographs and detailed drawings to supplement Clouse’s excellent and meticulous essays on such topics as the beginning of agriculture in Perry County, Terry Necciai’s essay on the county as an example rural landscape, and essays considering each of the eight barns chosen for in-depth consideration.
