Bibles, Study Guides, and Accessories
Deciding which bibles and bible references and bible commentaries to stock is a challenge. I attempt a historical and a critical approach. We begin with the Hebrew and Greek originals. We move through the significant translations chronologically: the Geneva (with its sharp and learned Calvinist notes), the King James (safer for its sponsor), the New Revised Standard, and the excellent harvest of translations in the late 20th Century -- the New International, the English Standard, and the Common English.
Our dictionaries and handbooks tend to be a little conservative, mostly because I am skeptical of the confidence and the imagination of modern liberal scholars. Two thousand years of brilliant minds have thought about and written about scriptures (longer and more in the case of the Hebrew scriptures), and the humble approach with that perspective is useful and wise. The best approach is to begin with the basics and go from there.
On a less controversial note, protect your treasure of wisdom with a book cover or tote. We have several designs with neat features.

The Koren Tanakh Graphic Novel: Yona
The future of the Kingdom of Yisrael hangs in the balance.
Yona is tasked with a bewildering mission: persuade Yisrael’s most powerful enemy to repent its evil and save itself from destruction. Aghast at the personal, geopolitical, and theological implications of this divine command, Yona attempts to flee, launching him on a perilous journey as he descends to the darkest depths of Creation — and his own soul.
The creative team of Emmy Award-winning writer David Sacks (The Simpsons), producer Jordan B. Gorfinkel (Batman, Koren Tanakh Graphic Novel: Esther), and Israeli illustrators Larisa Kerzhner and Avi Blyer (Where Is Anne Frank) presents a faithful and visually evocative rendering of this quintessential, dramatic meditation on repentance and forgiveness.
The Koren Tanakh Graphic Novel series presents the unabridged Hebrew biblical text in the classic Koren typeface, alongside graphic novel storytelling that integrates the English translation with sophisticated illustration, bringing the biblical narrative to life and hidden layers of meaning to light. A multi-disciplinary team of world-class artistic talent, drawing on scholarly expertise in Tanakh, Midrash, archaeology, history, and more, spares no effort to render each biblical work with authenticity, delivering a rewarding blend of textual clarity, interpretive depth, and artistic nuance.
The Koren Tanakh Graphic Novel: Yona is suitable for use on and preparation for Yom Kippur, as well as year-round study, enjoyment, and contemplation.
