Carlisle Fencibles: Company A 7th Regiment P.R.V.C.
“The Carlisle Fencibles, which became Company A. of the 7th Regiment, Pennsylvania Reserve Volunteers Corps, saw its fair share of action in the war, and this book tells their story . . . . The goal here is to compile a single written record of Company A.’s service, as much as possible in their words, and in the context of the times. It is not intended to be a groundbreaking Civil War history. I envision the reader being a history buff or Carlisle resident with an interest in the town’s past, and only a general knowledge of the war. To that end I do spend some time providing details which, I hope, will enchance the reader’s experience, but which are not intended to meet the acclaim of devoted civil war buffs. These were ordinary men who made extraordinary sacrifices for their town and country. They deserve to be remembered.”
